Club Badge Team

Ages: 8-12

Our Badge Team has developed more engaged and active fencers in the children’s age categories than any other club in Alberta! Our Badge Team is inspiring and highly motivated with energetic and caring coaches.

The Badge Team is for fencers ages 8-12 who are attending badge program classes either at a community location or at the Fencing Calgary South facility.

Badge Team members participate in Practice Groups and Team Meets. Team fencers participate in PLAY competitions for ongoing experience. The practices and team meets are preparing the Badge Team for under-11 and under-13 City Circuit Events.

Practice is very important to the ongoing development of team fencers. Below are the practice activities that team

Badge Team Activities

BADGE TEAM MEETS: Badge Team Meets are half day events on Sunday’s between September and June. Team Meets are where Fencers get motivated and learn how to practice and play as a team. Fencers do not have to attend every Team Meet to be part of the team, but should attend as many as possible with their team-mates
BADGE TEAM GROUP PRACTICES: Group Practices are where team members get to have even more Fencing Fun while working together to prepare for Play and City Circuit Events. Team members can choose from various 6 week options, running back to back, throughout the season.
CAMPS: Camps are held during the September-June season on holiday weeks such as winter break (Jan) and spring break (Mar). There are weekly camps throughout the summer (July & August). Team members are highly encouraged to participate in seasonal and summer camps to support their improvement. Register for camps in the CAMPS section (register early to secure a spot)
EQUIPMENT: Team fencers are required to bring their own equipment (either their own or borrowed from a current community program). When a fencer is regularly participating in team activities fencing pants are required (pants are mandatory for City Circuit level competition)

How To Get Started!

If you are new to the Badge Team, you can choose to register for an upcoming Team Meet or select a weekly practice group that fits your schedule. You can register for as many different practice groups as works for you, there is no limit to how much you can practice! A team meet is a good place to start, then selecting an additional weekly practice group is a great addition to your community fencing time.

NOTE: It is highly recommended team fencers participate in 2 weekly classes (either both in the badge program or the badge program and a team practice group).
